Bad snakes

I purchased a male and female pair of sand boas from them at the January Hamburg reptile show and the male was dead before we made it the half hour home and the female died later that week. Absolutely horrible for that to happen. My husband bought a ball python from them and it had mites. We have 7 ball pythons total and none of which ever came home with mites. When confronted at the February show they didnt care at all and tried to make it seem like I didnt know what I was saying even when I had iPhone time stamped photos of the dead snakes.

The shop did not provide at purchase the species name and the origin of the reptile, which is very important for the setup of the tank. The reptile is so aggressive that seems more like a wild-caught organism.

Outback Reptiles - Great Service!
Updated by user Mar 18, 2020

Nothing to resolve - great experience, and great pets! Thanks Mike!

Original review Mar 18, 2020
I just got a pair of African Egg Eating snakes, and the vet just gave them a clean bill of health. Eating great in captivity, getting along with the kids, overall a great experience. I was a first time customer, and I had never ordered a pet online before. Since this is not a captive bred species, we had to wait for a shipment to come in from Africa, which through a comedy of errors, took much longer than expected. (Yes, they were listed as back ordered when I ordered them. MY fault, NOT the sellers.) Weather, airlines, more weather, and holidays got in the way.)

Fraud/thief

Outback Reptiles - Fraud/thief

We we were trying to buy a snake from outback reptiles and my boyfriend was at work while i was at home and we were trying to figure everything out. I was really excited so while waiting for my boyfriend to send the money over i was asking mike about the shipping to be sure i would be home for its arrival.

Then mike messaged saying he no longer wanted to do business with us and would refund the money. He refunded one of the transactions. He still has 405$ of our money that he is refusing to refund us. He won't answer my emails or my phone calls anymore.

I have never been so pissed off in my life. He accused us of fraud because i was excited and asking about shipping and now he won't even refund our money. Whos comiting fraud here?

As you can see by the picture he returned the first transaction from the 4th but he hasn't and is refusing to return the money from the transaction made on the 5th. I would not doing business with this man.

Thatโ€™s aweful.

Hi, this is Mike I remember this transaction. I decided to return your funds because none of the addresses or names you gave me for shipping matched the addresses and names associated with the paypal account.

I refunded you every payment you sent me. Why you sent me multiple payments I do not know, but they were all refunded.

Could not be happier

I bought a pair of Hinge back tortoises. The communication, customer service, the reliability the help and patience with me answering all my questions, changing my order to 1.2 animals and the way the animals were packed, could not be happier. Awesome animals.

Great company to deal with!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have purchased several animals from outback and was satisfied with every one of them. All arrived healthy in great shape and were exactly as described.

I have gotten ball pythons, green tree pythons, and several other species from them in the past. One time I tried to order an animal and it turned out they were out of stock. Mike (their sales rep) helped me pick out a similar animal, gave me a discount and even sent a papa john's coupon in the box. Best customer service I've ever encountered in the reptile industry, hands down!

If you have a problem with them then maybe you need to look at what happened and see where you went wrong- because they always seem to bend over backwards to help me however they can. Just saying!

Outback Reptiles - Ball Python Snake Review

I bought a young male banana cinnamon ball from Outback reptiles at an expo on March 18, 2017. He has had health problems since I got him, beginning with having multiple eye caps from previous sheds.

I attempted to email the company asking for the last time he had shed and how many times as well as his approximate age. Whether it was his bad sheds or bad genetics that led to this next problem, I may never know. He has a prolapsed eye. Yes, the eye came fully out of the socket during a vet visit to check if all the eye caps had been removed.

I should have known by the price that there would be something wrong with him. I plan to keep him and help him thrive for as long as he can, but I will never be buying another animal from them again.

Also, many, if not most, of the geckos at their table during the expo had already lost their tails. Not good.

Thatโ€™s not good.

Guest

Itโ€™s because itโ€™s a cinnamon. Cinnamons almost always have problems. Kind of like spider balls.

Guest

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Just got back from HER 4th visit from the vet. Last week, one of her eyes prolapsed.

This week, after having some really weird shedding issues, her eye prolapsed again and needed to be removed.

The other eye isn't looking that great either...

Seriously, do not waste your time or money on this company. They obviously don't care for their animals like they should.

Hi, I remember your facebook post. Had your inexperienced veterinarian not removed the protective layer of the snake's eyeball, maybe it would not have fallen out. Next time you have an issue with a stuck eyecap, try fixing the environment rather than going to a veterinarian with no reptile experience.

Recent Purchase of Senegal Flapshell Turtles

I recently purchased a Senegal Flapshell Turtle based on an ad that was posted in Facebook. In my opinion, the turtle was a good size for the price and had a good weight.

The problem I'm having is their failure to respond to several e-mails I've sent about what they were feeding it. Everything I've looked up pertains to Indian Flapshells.

I'm just concerned because softshells that I have owned in the past (Florida, Spiny) have been voracious eaters, and this one seems to be shy around food. I just want to do the right thing here, and as having as much information as possible would be helpful.

Outback Reptiles Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Let's start by saying, Outback has the worst customer service I've ever come across. I was trying to buy a pair of snakes off them, was told they were mine and to message them on how to pay, so I sent a message, didn't hear anything back after that for over an hour, so I called in and was told they were sold ten minutes ago to someone else.

When I tried to understand why they were sold to someone else when they were already sold to me, all I got was rude, ignorant replies saying it was my fault. VERY unprofessional. Their animals are unhealthy, dirty, mite infested imports.

They claim to be breeders with so much experience, but they aren't. Take the advice, DO NOT BUY from Outback, or you'll be on here writing one of these same reviews shortly after.

If theyโ€™re dirty and mite infested, WHY IN THE WORLD WERE YOU TRYING TO BUY 2 SNAKES??

Guest

Hey, I sent you info on how to make the purchase. I'm sorry you took too long and somebody else beat you to it- I am not sure how this has anything to do with our customer service.

And considering you did not make a purchase, I'm not sure why you are telling people the animals are mite infested/unhealthy.

Since you did not actually buy anything, it stands to reason to say that you are making up bad things about us, because you are unhappy that you missed out on the animal you wanted. This is petty and immature and this certainly says more about your character than ours.

Haha, good one! I've dealt with animals from Outback before, and they are not all so great.

So, it had nothing to do with me being mad about this situation.

You never sent info on how to purchase, you didn't respond for over an hour and then told me the animal was sold. Lying says a lot about your character.

Bad Customer Service - Unhealthy Tarantulas.

Outback Reptiles - Bad Customer Service - Unhealthy Tarantulas.

I was at the White Plains Expo on July 24th and purchased, *what was labeled on the container it was in* a Theraphosa Blondi (Goliath Birdeater). The guy who was selling them told me that it was a confirmed female, so I bought it. It's abdomen was very small and slightly shriveled, but it had the best looking tarantulas out of the rest of their Theraphosa species.

I spent a lot of money on the tarantula, and it's new enclosure/other necessities beforehand. I took it home, I saw that it was a male. That was already a problem. Also, the guy wrote down the wrong specices, for it was a Stirmi.

It was fine it it's new enclosure, I have experience with this species and it ate well the day I got it. However, not even a day and a half later it died. There was definitely something wrong with the tarantula before I even brought it home, there was no reason for it to have died under my supervision. I contacted Outback Reptiles via email and complained and the guy who emailed me back kept trying to tell me things that were irrelevant to the fact that they 1.) Sold me the wrong sex/misnamed the specices and 2.) They are displaying sickly looking/unhealthy tarantulas at the show. He came across very rude about it and he didn't even care that I told him the animal he sold to me died the next day.

Very upset with my purchase from them and wasted a lot of money.

Hi this is Mike at Outback Reptiles. Like I explained via email, if you bought a Goliath Birdeater that was labelled "T.

Blondi" then you got it from a different vendor. None of our goliath birdeaters had the latin names on the cup labels, and they are all T stirmi anyways.

I am sorry your spider died but it did not come from us if that was on the cup lid. I also never guarantee sex on bird eaters because they are notoriously difficult to sex unless they are mature males.

Recent Purchase

I just recently purchased a baby hognose snake from Outback Reptiles and my experience was very positive. I had several questions to ask Mike prior to ordering the snake and he was extremely courteous and helpful.

He answered all my questions and even gave me a few suggestions which made me very comfortable in dealing with this company. When he shipped my snake he sent me the tracking number so that I could check on the shipping and delivery time. When my snake arrived it was packaged perfectly. There was a heat pack in the box that was still warm and toasty.

I opened the container and found a healthy alert little baby hognose. And, that same day my little hoggie ate a F/T pinkie! I have had 2 hognose snakes before and I could not get either one of them to eat, so seeing this little chowing down was very exciting for me! All that being said, I could not be any happier with Mike Schultz and Outback Reptiles.

If I decide to add another snake I will definitely be a repeat customer. Thank you Mike, for the great job on providing me with a healthy animal.

i purchased two snakes. One was a adult fire fly the other a ch reduced. They answered our emails promplty and where great to deal with. I would highly recommend outback reptiles. As for all the comments ive seen as for a sick snake RI or mits is something that can happen any time in any condition you can't blame them for a sick snake. Also people like to think they really know about snakes and are misinformed and accidently provide poor living conditions for the new snakes. Do your research and care for them properly they will live long happy lives.

I purchased 2 ball pythons for my son and I, a female lemonblast and a pastel het Candino male from Outback in Virginia. Mike was great! Answered my numerous questions. Anytime I've needed to reach him, he gets right back to me. The snakes arrived very quickly, healthy, and were packed with extreme care. I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

Outback Reptiles - Bullsnake Review from Morgantown, Kentucky

Completly pissed at them bought 2 bull snakes one died within the first week. Second one died a few months later but not without infecting every other snake we bought after. Spent about 6 hundred bucks on snakes the last 3 months and every snake is dead all thanks to out back reptiles. And mike tryed blamming everything on me. Saying i wasnt doing anything right at all while housing my snakes. And how he was a professional reptile breeder and has been for over 16 years. And to top it all off i read some stuff online saying none of them are even actual breeders i am pissed at them! Who ever is thinking about buying from them dont! Unless you wanna end up like me!

Hi Mr Minkiewicz, as I explained to you when this situation occurred, reptiles need heat and substrate in order to thrive. In the pictures you sent me, your snakes were kept in cold aquariums with nothing but crumpled up newspaper filling the tank.

This is a horrible way to keep a reptile and your snakes suffered as a result of this.

I am positive the rest of your animals died because of your abhorrent care practices. In the future, please research proper care before purchasing a living animal.

Guest

I just bought from them,I've read all about the things all u have said. I will keep my lesser het clown away from my others while I see if he is in good shape.

Sorry to hear about ur snakes. Best of luck in future
